How it works

  1. Spotted the need via his girlfriend and Xiaohongshu: many women use solid-color images as a selfie light
  2. Built the free version with Cursor in about an hour; it passed App Store review the next day
  3. After many copycats appeared, launched a ¥1 Pro version that lets you shoot while the screen lights you
  4. Promoted it through Xiaohongshu, Bilibili and his own media; each of the two apps has 300k to 500k downloads

Could we copy it?

Partly copyable The code is a few hours of work for one person. The hard parts are spotting a small, real need and having the media reach to make it go viral. Copycats arrive fast, so the window is short.
