How it works

  1. Maor Shlomo, a co-founder of the data company Explorium, started it as a side project in 2024: describe the app you want in words, and the platform's AI builds a working one
  2. He says AI writes 90% of his code; the platform itself runs on Anthropic's Claude through AWS
  3. No funding: users came from building in public on LinkedIn and X and from word of mouth, plus partnerships with eToro and Similarweb
  4. Lenny's Podcast reports $1M ARR three weeks after launch; TechCrunch reports about $189K in profit in May 2025
  5. In June 2025 Wix bought it for $80M in cash, and Calcalist reports the price can rise if revenue targets are met through 2029

Could we copy it?

Hard to copy It began with one person, but as a general platform up against Lovable and Bolt, with heavy model costs and growth that leaned on the founder building in public. A small team can borrow the playbook, building in public and turning a profit early, but not the outcome.
