How it works

  1. Zhao Chunxiang, a former screenwriter, took a suggestion from Meituan co-founder Wang Huiwen, dropped his other project and built an AI screenwriting tool
  2. All the code is written by Claude Code, later also Codex; he says none of it is hand-written, and the MVP already had 119,000 lines
  3. The product is a professional screenplay editor with AI continuation, whole-script diagnosis, characters and storyboards; the AI only edits what the writer selects
  4. Invite codes spread the beta: share a set post to get a code, and earn credits or membership by posting about it on Xiaohongshu, X or TikTok
  5. Five subscription tiers up to $400 a month plus credit packs; he shares his revenue in public on X and WeChat

Could we copy it?

Partly copyable Anyone can learn to build with Claude Code. The hard parts are his own screenwriting background, which tells him what professionals need, and the reach of his tens of thousands of X followers and public revenue posts. Model costs are high, so pricing has to carry them.
